Some of our members will be there to plan the first official Statewide GSA Meeting for the Fall 2011 Semester.
We'll be going to Providence to YPI 171 Chestnut Street on Saturday at 11:30am. We're gonna be part of the Statewide Gay Straight Alliance and help guide others and learn from them as equals.

So, we've decided to open up our office. As long as you're a member, you can ask to have your name on the Key list so you can use the office anytime.
We had a wonderful time working with the Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies supporting peace during the International Day of Peace.
We also had a spot near the Ram Tours Cotton Candy Booth and the Health Services booth for the Student Organizations Fair talking to lots of people and introducing them to our club. Hey there! You may have noticed on the front page that we've got a Twitter button on the front Page.
www.twitter.com/URIGSA We also have a new Facebook Page! www.facebook.com/pages/URI-Gay-Straight-Alliance So, we've been granted an office in the Memorial Union. It's downstairs in room 126, across from the Good 5 Cent Cigar.
But sadly, it's not very well decorated or utilized at the moment. ='( While we are still setting up the key list, we'd like to know who would like to use our office for studying, being productive, being awesome, or simply for being a better person. If you're one of these things, please send us a message and we'll make our resources better adapted to our constituency. Hey, so if this is your first time, great. Go to the Contact Us page and sign up to join our group if you haven't already!
There will be a very brief meeting about what we do this Monday September the 5th 2011 in room 201 in the Multicultural Center. It's not really a first meeting but it's a short meeting about what we do. It;ll be about 15 minutes and you should totally bring any friends! It's almost that time of year!
The Freshmen are Coming! It's first night, the night of free food and swag and most importantly Student Organizations! Lots of Clubs with lots of stuff. Come visit us and the GLBT Center! We've got candy and cool people. Remember it's 6:30pm in front of the Memorial Union! Two awesome people represented URI at the national Campus Pride Event.
Portia Burnett and Kevin Cruz are sure to bring new energy and ideas to the the GSA at URI and to the URI community as a whole. After having our first couple years living as nomads on the hilly steppes of the URI campus drifting between the Multicultural Center and the GLBT Center, we finally get a permanent (semipermanent) location!
So now, instead of storing our posters, supplies, files in the back of Brian's car and back pack or in the lost maze of the GLBT center, we can have a space to do our work! I'm sure that'd be great for the other executives too since now our notes and work will be easily available to all the executives! and even general members! yay! It's room 126 right across the hall from the 5c Cigar on the first floor of the Memorial Union. It's small but definitely a step up. |
